by: Daishaly Rodriguez

Ready to celebrate Black Excellence? Join us at the Inaugural Black Excellence Gala hosted by Buy Black NB. It will take place on May 6th at the Harbor View Gallery of The Whaling Museum from 6-10 pm. The elegant evening will include live music, special performances, food, networking, and an online auction! Attending the event would not only be a way to connect with the local community, but the event will also serve as a fundraiser for Buy Black NB.

Guests will be serenaded with the music of award-winning alternative R&B artist SING who has won international awards and was even accepted into The National Recording Academy’s Class of 2020. Local DJ Bee Mags, owner of WNB One Radio, will be on the ones and twos and Jeanine Hunt, host of The Jeannine Hunt Experience will be the MC of the evening!

Krave Restaurant and Bar will be catering the event. Krave’s food includes multiethnic flavors that add a unique spin to their seafood! In case your mouths aren't watering already, there will also be various local bakeries showcasing their sweets for a community tasting.

Leading up to the event there will be an online auction with items that have been donated by local companies. The items will include hot items such as gift cards and service packages. Attendees will be able to bid on them before and throughout the night. The highest bidders will be announced at 7 pm!

Justina Perry, Founder and Director of Buy Black NB states, “Celebrating Black Excellence is centering Blackness and creating spaces of belonging for our community to reconnect to joy. The event is for all of our supporters who believe in our mission and wish to see it continue on.”

Tickets start at $100 and are available for purchase at buyblacknb/the-black-excellence-gala. The gala is for ages 21+ and requires formal attire. Attending the event is a great way to celebrate what Black excellence truly is, connection, and growth as a people!
